The Block Island Club will host the 36th Annual Hal Madison Race on Saturday, August 10.
The race will be held west of Block Island, in the Block Island Sound. Course lengths are traditionally between 8 - 12 NM. We will set a short course for dinghies if enough dinghies register.
All classes of boat are welcome. The Block Island Club has Colgate 26 Keelboats, 420s, Sunfish and Lasers available for use for the regatta.
There will be a skippers' meeting at the Block Island Club on Corn Neck Road at 10:00 AM. The first gun will be at 12:00 noon, with the starting line off the west side of the island near the entrance to the Great Salt Pond. There will be an around-the-buoys course determined on race day by the race committee.
Hal Madison was a founding member and former president of the Block Island Club; Hal was an early proponent of its junior sailing program. There will be an awards presentation with food and drinks following the race at 6.00 PM at the Block Island Club; all sailors are welcome. The cost of admission is covered in your entry fee.
